The Pilot Site & Foundation of the Collective
Welcome to where it all began. DCP1 is our official pilot site and the operational blueprint for the Mid-MO Harvest Collective. Designed to prove that smart infrastructure and precision agriculture can maximize food security yields on a local scale, this plot serves as our testing ground for high-density crop rotations and sustainable land management.
Thanks to the incredible labor of our volunteers and data-backed planting strategies, DCP1 has set a high standard for our expansion network:
Proven Spring Yields: Successfully produced, harvested, and delivered our inaugural cycles of nutrient-dense spring greens directly to regional food bank partners.
Summer Heat Infrastructure: Equipped with a full, low-pressure drip irrigation network that minimizes water waste while sustaining 106 King Arthur Bell and Jalapeno pepper plants through the peak summer months.
Companion & Vertical Cropping: Home to an advanced vertical trellising system where climbing sweet peas grow alongside meticulously pruned, high-airflow tomato crops to maximize vertical square footage.
The Garlic Pipeline: Nearing the completion of a multi-month growth cycle for our robust hardneck garlic crop, primed for a high-volume harvest next month following a successful strategic scape cutting.
DCP1 isn't just a plot of land; it is the living proof of concept that allows the Collective to confidently expand our footprint across Mid-Missouri.
The 2026 Volume Expansion Plot
DCP2 represents a massive milestone in the scaling capacity of the Mid-MO Harvest Collective. Established as our primary 2026 expansion site, this plot was strategically selected and built out to exponentially increase our seasonal growing volume and strengthen our regional food pipeline.
By taking the infrastructure lessons learned at our flagship Harrisburg site and applying them here on a larger scale, the Ashland plot has quickly become a powerhouse of production:
Significant Volume Acceleration: A single massive operational push expanded our field footprint, instantly adding 160+ new summer crop transplants to our active cultivation total.
High-Yield Tomato Production: One full, dedicated row features 80 thriving tomato plants, meticulously spaced and prepped for maximum sun exposure and future high-volume harvesting.
Caloric & Storage Crops: A second massive row is dedicated to durable, nutrient-dense fall staples, currently hosting 60 Beauregard sweet potatoes and 20 Waltham butternut squash plants.
Precision Row Architecture: Features newly formed, optimized rows engineered to handle the regional soil profile, complete with integrated irrigation systems to immediately mitigate transplant shock and ensure efficient water delivery directly to the roots.
DCP2 is a testament to what our volunteer network can accomplish in a single weekend. This plot dramatically amplifies our ability to deliver heavy crates of fresh, high-quality produce to @The Food Bank for Central & Northeast Missouri when the summer and fall harvests roll in.
The Inaugural Local Grower Network Partner
LGN1 represents the exciting launch of our decentralized regional agricultural model. By partnering with independent local farms like Pierpont Farms, the Collective can exponentially scale our community food pipeline without the overhead of land acquisition. This collaboration captures the true spirit of Mid-Missouri agriculture—local growers dedicating a portion of their private infrastructure, land, and expertise to cultivate fresh produce explicitly for families experiencing food insecurity.
As our flagship network site, this location brings specialized growing techniques and incredible passion to our unified mission:
Climate-Controlled Infrastructure: Utilizes professional greenhouse and high-tunnel systems to protect young crops from volatile seasonal weather and extend the local summer growing window.
High-Yield Tomato Production: Features 55+ robust tomato plants successfully established in the ground, with ongoing planting actively expanding the row footprint.
Extension-Backed Methodologies: Practices advanced crop management and soil care informed directly by the University of Missouri Extension's specialized high-tunnel and greenhouse programs.
A Shared Philanthropic Mission: Built on a mutual, deep-rooted commitment to community support and sharing the local harvest with those who need it most.
Amplified Food Bank Support: Seamlessly integrates with Pierpont Farms' established annual food drive tradition to funnel a consistent supply of premium produce directly into @The Food Bank for Central & Northeast Missouri.
LGN1 is the living proof that we are stronger together. This baseline partnership sets the standard for how the Mid-MO Harvest Collective plans to unite local landowners to create a resilient, interconnected network of food security across our region.
